JALENKWRIGHT As Curbside Jones introduces yet another alter ego, he refuses to just stay behind the boards: 'Kwamé' brings beats, breaks, and background vocals. Lonely Child enters the jam session intro "Tasha's Theme" on cue with a pair of saxophone solos. "Let's Be Clear" could have potentially been a longer groove had 'Kwamé' let the beat go on. "Selfish" stands as the most fully-realized electronic song on this series debut. I did not expect a full-blown EDM project but now that 'Kwamé' is here: why not? Favorite track: Selfish.

Swellthy Gives me high fashion vibes. Also reminds me of one of my favorite OST's "Gran Turismo". GROOVY & REFRESHING!

about

Project Info:
Kwamé Vol.01 is a compilation of moods that I've been going through expressed through house music. I grew tired of creating the same style of music and decided to branch out and find myself again in a new lane. Each song represents conversations I've had with others and myself; themes of love, appreciation, doubt, miscommunication, self-care, and solitude.

Song Break downs:
Tasha's Theme is a song I made for my wife. She is really into the ballroom scene and I wanted to make something she could vogue to. Serving as the intro this song sets the mood for what's to come. Tasha's Theme is a mixture of vintage house, jazz, and modern grooves.
(Additional saxophone by Lonely Child)

Let's Be Clear was created after multiple thoughts and conversations about how my generations treats relationships; romantic and recreational. We tend to expect more than we give and we often have a hard time understanding where we stand with people. These feelings could be linked to the online culture we have adopted or just a lack of empathy. When these feelings go unchecked we end up with a sense of entitlement to others time and energy.

Selfish is an ode to self care and the need to put yourself first in situations where others wouldn't. Lately I've found myself wanting to be alone more and doing things I enjoy as opposed to what others would like me to do.
